Eyelid Surgery Risks and Safety

Eyelid Surgery Risks and Safety

Eyelid Surgery Risks and Safety | Chantilly | Arlington | ManassasThe incidence of serious complications in eyelid surgery is very low, but some degree of risk is always inherent to the procedure. In any case, eyes are the most sensitive external area of the body, and any surgery related to the eyes should only be performed by someone with expertise in facial surgeries.

To ensure safe and predictable outcomes, the patient should cooperate and diligently follow the surgeon’s pre- and post-surgical instructions.

Dr. Trang Vo-Nguyen (Dr. V) is a board certified facial plastic surgeon providing eyelid surgery and various other procedures for the breast, body and face. Patients in Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and surrounding locations have an opportunity to receive eyelid surgery from Dr. V.

Severe Complications

Major complications will only occur in the rarest of circumstances. They may include hematoma, ectropian, and retinal detachment. Ectropian refers to a droopy effect that causes the lower eyelid to become inverted. This condition may have to be corrected with a revision surgery.

Fluid collection under the skin in the incision areas or hematoma may occur in case of eyelid surgery. This risk increases if both upper and lower eyelid surgery are performed together in conjunction with additional procedures such as facelift or brow lift. Temporary drain tubes may be placed in the incision areas for a few days to minimize this risk.

Retinal detachment may occur in extremely rare cases. In this situation, the retina gets separated from the outer layers of the eye. Holes or tears in the retina may lead to this occurrence. This condition can be corrected with additional surgery performed by an experienced plastic surgeon.

Other Risks

Some of the less serious complications that may occur following eyelid surgery will include:

  • Infection
  • Excessive tearing
  • Poor reaction to anesthesia
  • Dry eyes
  • Burning of the eyes
  • Visible scarring
  • Formation of whiteheads after suture removal
  • Difficulty in keeping the eyes closed while sleeping
  • Blurred or double vision

These conditions will usually clear up on their own in a few days, and are in any case easily treatable. However, in rare situations, a complication may become permanent. Dr. V receives patients from Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and nearby areas for eyelid surgery.

Common Side Effects

Post-surgical Discomfort

Irritation, soreness and mild pain may occur in the first few days after eyelid surgery. As the effect of anesthesia wears off, the treated eyelids will feel tight and sore. Pain medications will be prescribed by the surgeon to keep the patient comfortable.

Swelling

Some degree of swelling and mild redness will occur in the incision areas following eyelid surgery. Ice therapy or cold compresses can be applied in the first two or three days to mitigate swelling.

Scarring

A little scarring is unavoidable, but an experienced surgeon will ensure that the scars are well-concealed. The scars will become more inconspicuous with the passage of time.

Eyelid Surgery Procedure Steps

Eyelid Surgery Procedure Steps | Chantilly | Fairfax | ArlingtonEyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery procedure to reduce wrinkles and lines around the eyelids and rejuvenate the upper face appearance. A few key steps are involved in this procedure, which may vary a little depending on the extent of correction required in lower, upper or both eyelids.

Dr. Trang Vo-Nguyen (Dr. V) is a board certified facial plastic surgeon providing eyelid surgery to patients in Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and surrounding locations.

Anesthesia

Eyelid surgery is usually performed with the patient under mild sedation and local anesthesia. If the patient has higher anxiety levels or the surgery is combined with other facial procedures such as facelift or brow lift, general anesthesia may be applied. The surgeon will assess the patient’s health and review medical records to determine suitability for anesthesia and review any history of drug allergies.

Lower Eyelid Surgery

Following anesthesia, the surgeon will begin the lower blepharoplasty procedure by placing small incisions in discreet sites around the lower eyelids. To create hidden incisions, the surgeon may use the natural skin creases below the lower eyelashes. Through the incisions, the surgeon will remove excess fat and skin, and tighten the weak underlying muscles.

Facial filler injections or facial fat transfer procedure may be additionally used if the hollows below the lower eyelids are significant. Once the procedure is completed, the surgeon will close the incisions with fine sutures.

Upper Eyelid Surgery

The incisions will be placed in the natural creases of upper lids in case of upper eyelid surgery. The surgeon will trim away loose skin through the incisions to get rid of the droopy effect of the upper lids and correct any partial vision obstruction. If the underlying muscles are weak, these may also be tightened through the incisions.

Following the removal of loose skin, the remaining skin will be lifted and reattached for a smoother, more youthful upper eyelid appearance. Thereafter, the surgeon will close the incisions with fine sutures. Dr. V receives patients from Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and nearby areas for eyelid surgery.

Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty

In some cases, the patient’s sole concern may be the appearance of excess fat deposits around the eyelids, while the eyelid skin may still have elasticity and suppleness. In such case, transconjunctival eyelid surgery may be performed. This procedure will be less invasive and recommended in cases where the under eye bags are less prominent.

Following anesthesia, several tiny incisions inside the lower eyelid will be placed. The surgeon will remove excess fat pockets through the incisions to create an enhanced look of the lower eyelids. The procedure will not involve skin excision or muscle tightening. Scarring will not be visible from the outside because the incisions in this procedure are placed inside the eyelid.

Following the eyelid surgery, the patient will have to go through a recovery phase lasting for about one week. During this period, the patient should follow the surgeon’s post-op care instructions for the safest and most desirable results.

About the New Juvederm Volbella – Lip Injections

Juvederm Volbella – Lip Injections | Chantilly Plastic SurgeryVolbella is the latest addition to the Juvederm family of hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers from Allergan, Inc. Juvederm Volbella received the FDA’s approval on June 1st, 2016. Unlike most other facial cosmetic fillers, Volbella is primarily designed to enhance lip volume, improve lip contour, and help smooth the pesky upper lip lines that are a common concern for many people.

Volbella attracts less moisture after the injectable gel is administered, resulting in much reduced bruising and swelling. Furthermore, the results are longer lasting that most other facial soft tissue fillers at 12 to 14 months. Vobella’s unique Vycross molecular cross-linking technology increases its sustainability and slows down the degradation

Board certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Trang Vo-Nguyen (Dr. V) provides Juvederm Volbella to patients in Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and surrounding communities.

Areas of Correction

Juvederm Volbella filler gel can boost the lip volume, mitigate upper and lower lip lines, which are also called smoker’s lines, improve superficial smile lines, and also treat the oral commissure to help with downward turn of the mouth. Some patients may require more pervasive facial anti-aging results in different areas of the face.

In such cases, Volbella treatment may be combined with Juvederm Voluma or Juvederm Ultra, depending on the extent of volume loss to be corrected. Volbella is highly effective for the mouth area, and helps improve the more superficially etched in lines that are in a static condition. When Volbella treatment is combined with Botox or other dermal fillers from Allergan, the patient may also be eligible for attractive incentives from the manufacturer.

Post-Treatment Care

One of the advantages with Volbella is that the post-treatment downtime involved is considerably lower than other injectable fillers. This is possible because Volbella attracts less water than any other dermal filler, which minimizes the swelling and bruising.

Initial mild discomfort can be addressed with an ice pack, which will also help to lessen swelling. The patient may be required to visit the treatment provider for a follow-up appointment in two weeks.

Candidacy

People who are unhappy with the loss of lip volume or the appearance of upper lip lines or downward turned mouth may be the right candidates for Juvederm Volbella. The dermal filler is based on hyaluronic acid, which is fully biocompatible and requires no prior skin allergy tests to determine candidacy.

Comparison with Juvederm Ultra and Restylane

Volbella is longer lasting than Juvederm and Restylane because its mixture of high and low molecular weight in the hyaluronic acid makeup. Volbella is easier to mold, which gives it a higher degree of range in the balance of cohesiveness and elasticity.

It is smoother and easier to inject because it is less viscous, and causes less swelling and less reactionary inflammation because it draws less water than Juvederm Ultra and Restylane. Dr. V receives patients from Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and nearby areas for Volbella filler treatment.

Men Attending More “Brotox” Parties to Reduce Wrinkles

Men Attending More “Brotox” Parties to Reduce Wrinkles | ChantillyBotox injectable treatment has emerged as a popular anti-aging facial procedure among men because of the quick in-office treatment and no involvement of downtime. Results with Botox are more subtle than with facelift or other surgical procedures, which suits a lot of men who do not want to achieve an obvious or dramatically younger facial appearance.

Dr. V is a board certified facial plastic surgeon providing Botox injections for men. Patients in Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and surrounding locations have an opportunity to receive Botox treatment from Dr. V.

Brotox Parties

Botox parties have been prevalent among women for a long time. However, a new trend that is gathering steam is “Brotox” parties, which involve men instead of women. A growing number of men are viewing Botox as a go-to treatment when they want to reduce the signs of facial aging. Some of these men may prefer to receive Botox treatment as part of a “Brotox” party.

A group of men may choose to visit a plastic surgeon’s office together to have an all-male version of a Botox party. The chair in the surgeon’s office becomes the Brotox party central as men are treated with Botox to smooth out wrinkles between the brows, on the forehead and around the eyes.

Benefits

According to male patients who prefer to be a part of a Brotox party, a group of men seeking this treatment together changes the dynamic. The environment becomes more relaxed and comfortable for everyone, and the group effect can make the whole experience more fun instead of purely clinical.

Some men believe that through Brotox parties it is easier to break the stereotype that Botox anti-aging facial treatment is only for women. There should be no surprise if men too want to look more youthful. That is the natural need of any human being to look good and feel young. Botox suits the needs of a lot of men because the procedure involves minimal risk, discomfort or downtime.

When men receive Botox treatment in a group, they feel they have an audience of friends when they come out of the door after the procedure. With friends cheering and clapping, it makes the entire experience easier and happier. After a “Brotox” party, many of the men like to go out and celebrate at a restaurant or enjoy over drinks.

Dr. V receives patients from Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and nearby areas for Botox injections and various other surgical and non-surgical aesthetic procedures.

Growing Popularity

According to some analysts, Botox is now performed on more than six million patients a year, and about 10 percent of them are men. Social media appears to be playing a significant role in helping men communicate openly about Botox and feeling encouraged to join a Brotox party.

Responsible surgeons may support Brotox parties, but within certain rules in order to comply with all the established safety protocols for a procedure such as Botox.

Botox for Jaw Reduction

Botox for Jaw Reduction | Chantilly | Loudoun County | FairfaxWhile a lot of men desire a strong, square jaw line to enhance their masculine facial appearance, women usually want a softer and more feminized shape of their face. Depending on a woman’s facial anatomy, altering the facial shape from square to a more appealing oval shape can add more grace and femininity to the face.

Botox injectable procedure is a non-surgical way to reshape the jaw in a more desirable way. Board certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. V provides this procedure to patients in Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and surrounding locations.

How does Botox Work?

Surgery used to be the only option for many patients seeking jaw reduction. However, the introduction of Botox injections to address the jaw shape has revolutionized the treatment. Botox can create an improved shape of the face without involving any cuts, incisions, or downtime. Botox jaw reduction is an advanced non-surgical technique to reduce the width of the jaw line, changing an excessively square jaw line to a more attractive oval or heart shaped face.

In many patients, the masseter muscle, a chewing muscle in the face, becomes enlarged. This leads to extra facial width and a square shaped jaw. Botox can be injected into the targeted areas to selectively weaken this muscle over time. As the muscle relaxes with Botox application, it will reduce the size of the jaw and provide a more natural looking facial shape.

Dr. V uses advanced injection techniques to minimize the bruising, swelling and discomfort. Many patients can return to their regular activities immediately after the treatment. Dr. V receives patients from Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and nearby areas for Botox jaw line reduction.

Results

Patients will typically experience softening of the masseter muscle in about one week after the Botox procedure. The jaw line will soften at about six weeks. The treatment provider may recommend two to three treatment sessions with Botox at specified intervals in order to create more sustainable jaw line reduction outcomes. The second treatment may follow two to four months after the initial procedure.

Celebrity Case Study

The Real Housewives of New York star and Skinnygirl mogul Bethenny Frankel has said that the secret behind her enhanced facial appearance is the Botox injections she receives in her jaw. Frankel put an end to the speculation that she has undergone plastic surgery. The 45-year old has acknowledged that her appearance has improved dramatically in recent years, but it is a result of receiving Botox treatment for the jaw. “You can see that my jaw has completed changed,” she says.

Nearly three years ago, Frankel by advised by her doctor to receive Botox injections for the jaw because the jaw muscles were tensed up and bulky due to years of teeth grinding and clenching. Eight years ago, she began wearing a night guard to calm her clenching. But it wasn’t until she had Botox that the over-developed muscles in her lower face began to change.

Are you a Candidate for Rhinoplasty Surgery?

Are you a Candidate for Rhinoplasty Surgery? | Fauquier | WarrentonTo determine candidacy for a procedure such as rhinoplasty, the first step should be schedule a consultation with a facial plastic surgeon. The surgeon will assess the patient’s condition of the nose and face, skin quality, medical history, personal cosmetic goals, and emotional preparedness to undergo rhinoplasty.

Dr. V is a board certified facial plastic surgeon providing rhinoplasty and various other procedures for the face, breast and body to patients in Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and surrounding locations.

Optimal Candidates

Most of the candidates who seek nose reshaping surgery are unhappy with the appearance of their nose and want to improve the harmony of their facial features. A smaller number of rhinoplasty candidates are individuals who suffer from breathing obstructions or discomfort due to previous nose injuries or structural abnormalities.

The optimal candidate for nose surgery will be an adult in suitable general health, having clear aesthetic goals and realistic expectations, and recognizing the potential risks and complications associated with rhinoplasty. Such candidates will also be fully committed to following the surgeon’s instructions from pre-operative consultation to post-operative recovery.

Common Concerns

A fine candidate for rhinoplasty may have one or more of the following concerns about their nose:

  • The nose appears oversized or too small in relation to other facial features
  • The nose bridge has a conspicuous bump
  • The base of the nose is too wide
  • The nasal tip is enlarged, drooping or protruding
  • The tip is bulbous
  • The nostrils are pinched, flared or large
  • The nose is crooked looking or off-center
  • The nose has lost symmetry following an injury
  • Breathing difficulties due to structural anomalies of the nose

Dr. V receives patients from Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and nearby areas for rhinoplasty.

Teen Candidates

One of the most popular cosmetic surgeries among teens is rhinoplasty. But not every teen may be a suitable candidate for this procedure. The surgeon and the teenage patient should carefully consider whether or not rhinoplasty is an appropriate cosmetic surgery option. The surgeon should ensure that the decision to receive nose surgery is the teen patient’s own choice, rather than an outcome of parental or peer pressure.

Most surgeons recommend that girls should wait until the age of 14 or 15, and boys should wait another few years before they decide to undergo rhinoplasty. Irrespective of the reason for rhinoplasty, it is critical to ensure that the nose has developed completely before the surgery is performed.

Key Goals with Rhinoplasty

A candidate may seek to improve the size, shape, and overall appearance of the nose with rhinoplasty. Sometimes the cosmetic surgeon may recommend chin augmentation surgery along with rhinoplasty to achieve proper facial balance. A righteous and ideal candidate should also recognize that minimal scarring may occur if rhinoplasty is performed as an open procedure. They should carefully weigh the aesthetic benefits against the downsides of the surgery.

What is Nasal Reconstruction?

What is Nasal Reconstruction? | Plastic Surgery | Fairfax | MiddleburgNasal reconstruction may be required to correct major defects of the nose, which could have occurred by birth or by injury to the nose. The surgeon will use the uninjured side of the nose as a guide to rebuild the nose. The procedure can restore both functional and aesthetic aspects of the nose.

Nasal reconstruction should only be performed by a fully trained and experienced surgeon. Dr. V is a board certified facial plastic surgeon providing nasal reconstruction to patients in Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and surrounding locations.

Surgical Options in Nasal Reconstruction

Depending on the patient’s condition and their aesthetic needs, the surgeon will choose an appropriate nasal reconstruction technique.

Simple Suture Closure

If the nasal defects are minor or less than 4 to 5 mm, and limited only to the upper nose area, a simple suture closure technique may be used. Only a small amount of extra skin is available on the nose, which limits the size of the defects that can be sutured and closed. If larger defects are closed with limited skin, it can distort the remaining tip or nostrils.

Secondary Intention Healing

Secondary healing is used for small defects on the concave or flat surfaces of the nose. The surgeon will avoid this treatment approach near the convex tip or alar rim in order to prevent distortion of the nasal tip or nostril margins by scar contraction or the creation of a chopped off or blunted tip appearance.

Skin Grafts

Skin grafts are typically used for small, superficial defects of the nose. A skin graft is a piece of skin that is initially without blood supply, but when placed upon a vascular bed, it gradually begins to revascularize. For nasal reconstruction, the surgeon may take skin grafts from the front or behind of the ear or from the neck.

The usefulness of the graft will be determined by the size, depth and location of the nasal defect. The restoration may appear less than normal, but it can be an effective solution in various nasal reconstruction cases.

Local Flaps

Unlike skin grafts, local flaps provide a more natural looking color and texture. However, they do not add skin to the nose, but simply share remaining skin around the nose. It is important to use local flaps cautiously to avoid distortion of the nasal tip or nostril margin because of the limited availability of excess nasal skin. Local flap technique is best applied when the defect is superficial and less than 15 mm in size.

Regional Flaps

In regional flap technique, the surgeon will move excess tissue from facial areas adjacent to the nose, such as the nasolabial fold or from the forehead. Larger or more complex nasal repairs can be performed with this technique, depending on the size, shape, depth and location of the wound. The procedure appears more complicated, but often creates more sustainable and effective outcomes.

Dr. V receives patients from Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and nearby areas for nasal reconstruction surgery.

What is Septoplasty?

What is Septoplasty? | Rhinoplasty Surgery | Arlington |LeesburgSeptoplasty is a procedure involving the functional reconstruction of the nasal airway passage. The goal of the procedure is to improve the airflow in patients who are suffering from nasal airway obstruction.

Board certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Trang Vo-Nguyen (Dr. V) provides septoplasty to patients in Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and surrounding locations.

Causes and Symptoms

Nasal airway obstruction can occur due to a variety of causes. One of the common causes of this condition is a deviated nasal septum. This occurs when the cartilage that separates the nostrils is malpositioned. This condition can cause breathing difficulties through the nose as well as pain and nosebleeds.

Some people may have a deviated septum by birth, while some others may develop it following an injury to the nose. In most cases of deviated septum, one nasal passage will be significantly smaller than the other, which can create breathing problems.

Corrective Procedure

Septoplasty surgery is primarily the only way to correct a deviated septum and remove breathing obstructions. The key goal of septoplasty procedure is to correct the alignment of the septum and improve the airflow. It is typically performed as an outpatient surgery using general or local anesthesia. The entire procedure can be completed in about 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the complexity of a case.

In a typical septoplasty procedure, the surgeon will begin by making an incision on one side of the nose to access the septum. Through the incision, the surgeon will lift up the mucous membrane, which covers and protects the septum. Then the deviated septum will be moved to its appropriate position. The surgeon will also remove any barriers, such as extra pieces of cartilage and bone, at this point.

Finally, the surgeon will reposition the mucous membrane. Sometimes stitches may be required to hold the septum and the membrane in their correct position. But in other cases, packing the nose with cotton may be enough to maintain their position. Dr. V receives patients from Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and nearby areas for septoplasty.

Recovery

Once the effect of anesthesia wears off, the patient will feel mild pain and soreness in the incision areas, which can be managed with pain medications. Swelling will be more pronounced in the first week, and the nose will be packed with cotton to control bleeding. The packing may be removed in a day or two.

Vigorous activities should be avoided for two to four weeks following the surgery. These activities can increase blood pressure and put the patient at the risk of excess bleeding. The patient should keep the head elevated at night for a few days in order to resolve swelling faster. They should avoid blowing the nose for at least three days after surgery.

Insurance Aspect

In many cases, septoplasty costs may be covered under the patient’s health plan. Sometimes the surgeon may have to provide a letter addressed to the insurer in order to obtain approval.

Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery) Recovery

Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery) Recovery | Plastic Surgery | ChantillyRhinoplasty procedure is usually completed in about two hours, but the total journey from surgical preparation to post-operative recovery will require a significant time commitment from the patient. Recovery can be smooth and swift if the patient follows the surgeon’s instructions diligently.

The surgeon will explain various aspects of recovery during the initial consultation. Board certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Trang Vo-Nguyen provides rhinoplasty to patients in Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and surrounding locations.

How to Prepare for Recovery

Advance preparation will make the recovery easier. The patient should have someone to drive them home after the rhinoplasty procedure is over. For the first 24 to 48 hours, the patient should ideally have a family member, friend or a professional nurse to help with certain chores at home. Working people should apply for a leave of about one week well in time so that they can adequately rest at home during the initial recovery stage.

Before the patient leaves for home after the surgery, the medical staff will provide them with detailed post-operative care instructions. These instructions should be followed carefully in order to minimize discomfort, reduce the risk of complications, and expedite the recovery.

The patient should be prepared to follow a diet rich in lean proteins in the post-op recovery phase, and should stay sufficiently hydrated. Ice packs should be arranged in advance or cold compresses should be performed in the first two to three days to reduce swelling.

Dr. V receives patients from Chantilly, Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Arlington, Middleburg, Leesburg, Manassas, Warrenton, and nearby areas for rhinoplasty.

Initial Recovery Phase

Mild pain, irritation, bruising, swelling, nosebleeds, and headaches are expected in the first two to three days. The patient should avoid blowing the nose during this early phase. In the first 24 hours, the head should be rested in an elevated position as far as possible.

Mild walks at home can begin from the second day, but heavy lifting of weights and strenuous activities should be avoided for about two to three weeks. The surgeon will most likely prescribe pain medications and antibiotics for the first three to five days to keep the patient comfortable and minimize the risk of infection.

Recovery in the Following Weeks

The first follow up appointment with the plastic surgeon will usually be scheduled at the end of the first week. At this time, the surgeon may remove the sutures as well as the splint of nasal packing, if any. In the week following the surgery, bruising would begin subsiding rapidly, but swelling would reduce gradually over several weeks and months.

Most patients will be in a position to go back to work or resume a more normal routine at home in about one to two weeks after surgery. While most of the side effects experienced after rhinoplasty will disappear in about two weeks, the patient should continue to follow the surgeon’s instructions about refraining from smoking and avoiding strenuous exercises until healing is completed.
