JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC (VOLUMA)
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC (VOLUMA) is the first hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler that has received FDA approval to instantly add volume to the all three areas of the cheek (apex, apple, hollow). Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a hydrating substance found naturally in the body with the ability to restore lost water and volume to the skin. HA levels decrease as part of the normal aging process, causing the skin to lose volume and firmness, and potentially leading to a gaunt, aged, or tired appearance. By replenishing depleted HA levels, VOLUMA enhances facial volume, giving the facial contours a subtle, rejuvenating lift, and creating a more youthful profile for up to two years.
Manufactured by Allergan, the same company that created popular and efficacious products such as Botox and Latisse, VOLUMA is infused with lidocaine in order to minimize patient discomfort during and after treatment. As with all products in the JUVÉDERM® family of injectable gel dermal fillers, VOLUMA is both safe and effective for use in persons of all races and ethnicities, without risk of hyperpigmentation or hypertrophic scarring. Similarly, because the hyaluronic acid in JUVÉDERM® products is not derived from animals, allergy testing is not required prior to treatment.

JUVEDERM VOLUMA PROCEDURE DETAILS
Your VOLUMA treatment will be performed on an outpatient basis, and generally takes no longer than 15 minutes, after which you will notice immediate enhancements in the appearance of your skin. Following your treatment, you may resume your normal daily activities; however, you will be advised to avoid strenuous exercise, consumption of alcoholic beverages, and exposure to sun or heat for at least 24 hours. Potential temporary side effects of VOLUMA injections include: tenderness, redness, bruising, swelling, firmness, and bumps at the injection sites. These symptoms are typically mild to moderate in nature and subside within a week. Although VOLUMA offers long-lasting results after just one treatment, because every patient metabolizes dermal fillers at a different rate, periodic maintenance treatments may be necessary to preserve and maintain your results.

Juvederm Collection of Fillers
Complementary cosmetic skin treatments (ie. microdermabrasion, chemical peels) can be performed in conjunction with your VOLUMA injections to maximize and accentuate your results. VOLUMA works particularly well as a supplement to Botox® injections, because each injectable is designed to address and correct a different type of wrinkle, and when used together, patients can achieve a remarkable overall facial rejuvenation.
