Facial Plastic Surgery is required to correct defects in facial appearance which have been caused by birth or by traumatic experiences. It helps patients regain their charm and improve their impression in their social life. The tremendous progress in the field of Modern Science has enabled Cosmetic Surgeons to undertake any complex treatments with thorough investigation, progressive procedures and setup.
Otolaryngology
Otolaryngology is the branch of Medicine which deals with different facial parts along with their individual and interconnected functions. Otolaryngologists are practitioners who provide Medicinal and Surgical treatments for disorders related to Ears, Nose, Throat and other related parts – thus they are otherwise known as ENT specialists.
All Facial Plastic Surgeons specialize in ENT and they thoroughly understand the complex structural anatomy of human face and functions associated with each delicate individual part. They organize the surgical procedures under close supervision to minimize the side effects or any chance of fatal errors when working on interlinked parts.
Basically, facial plastic surgery is of two types – Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Cosmetic Plastic Surgery. Reconstructive Plastic Surgery is conducted to correct or restore the defects or damages that hinder normal functioning of the facial parts. These defects can be caused by birth or in an event of accident.
Cosmetic plastic surgery is conducted to modify the appearance of facial parts and is generally performed to enhance the beauty of the patients.
Types of treatment procedures

Treatment
The surgery begins once the Patient settles on a plan proposed by the Surgeon. Recovery time varies and it depends on the procedures performed. Maximum duration of hospital stay is usually about a day or two but in many cases hospital stays will not be required.
The surgeon provides certain dos and don’ts which must be strictly followed by patients. General advice is to refrain from intense physical activities for about a week or two as they can traumatize the healing process. Topical lotions will be prescribed for application on areas of incision.
