Surgical Day
During your chin and neck liposuction procedure, Dr. V will make small incisions on each side of your jaw (or below your chin) before saturating the fat with a tumescent solution in order to prepare it for removal. She will then use a cannula (surgical instrument in the shape of a small tube) to suction the excess fat from the lower chin, neck, and jaw region.
Following a Chin and Neck Liposuction
After your double chin removal procedure has concluded, your chin and neck area will be wrapped with gauze and you will be given a chin strap and soft cervical collar to reduce swelling and promote proper skin contraction, which helps to facilitate the healing process. The majority of your post-procedural swelling should subside within 3-5 days; however, you will be advised to wear the chin strap and cervical collar for approximately two weeks. Some patients elect to wear high-necked clothing or scarves during the initial recovery period.
